T.W. Hunter Middle School is a 6-time Tennessee State Reward School for Academic Achievement and Growth. The school has received this recognition for the past seven consecutive years of eligibility: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

The Nashville Business Journal named T.W. Hunter Middle School a "Top Public Middle School" in the Metro Nashville Region.

U.S. News and World Report ranks T.W. Hunter Middle School as one of the Best Middle Schools in Tennessee.
